Bishop R. Joseph Cooks is the founder and humble shepherd of the Evangelistic Restoration Church, Houston, Texas. The Evangelistic Restoration Church was founded in June 1997, beginning with 72 members, under the guidance of God to "reach and restore" the love and joy of the Lord to the world by enriching lives by the Word of God through the Power of God, and for the glory of God. Bishop Cooks is a native of Houston, TX. He is the husband of the lovely, Laura Cooks of 33 years. They have 3 sons; Ronald, Jarred, Josiah, and one grandson, Bryson.
Bishop Cooks received the call of God to preach the Gospel at the age of 14. He has been preaching the Word of God now for 45 years and shepherding the flock of God for 33 years. R. Joseph Cooks was ordained on March 29, 1987. He accepted and served faithfully in the labor of leadership as Senior Pastor of Gr. Mt. Carmel MBC for ten years.
In the year of 2016, Bishop Cooks accepted to also serve The House of Prayer Deliverance Church - 5225 Phelps Rd. of Beaumont as Bishop & Sr. Pastor. Bishop Cooks believes that God’s original purpose for our lives, for being in ministry is for us to be a benefit to others. Bishop Cooks is leading the people of God to exemplify the “Heartbeat of God.”
Pastor Laura Cooks was anointed from birth to be a chosen vessel of sharing the Word of God. In August 1995, she accepted God’s predestined call on her life into the Gospel Ministry.
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God impregnated her Pastor and husband two years later to birth the Evangelistic Restoration Church.
Bishop and Lady Cooks were installed to pastor her mother's Church, The House of Prayer Deliverance Church in Beaumont, Texas in July 2016.
Pastor Laura Cooks celebrates 33 years of marriage to Bishop R. Joseph Cooks. She is the wonderful mother of three awesome sons; Ronald, Jarred and Josiah, and one grandson, Bryson.
